We Are Considering Fostering A Dog
I've become obsessed with Bernedoodles. They're adorable!! Anytime I see them, I have to ask to pet them. Over the summer we saw one at TJ Maxx. I dragged my husband over to say hello with me. We asked the owner all the usual questions...age, gender, temperament, how long they've had them, and where did they get them from. She was so kind and gave us the name of the organizaton she worked with.
I didn't think Bernedoodles were available for adoption. Usually, due to their distinctive mix, you would need to get them from an expensive breeder. We started following the organization the past few months and have seen so many cute Bernedoodles being fostered and adopted.

My husband has never owned a pet but anytime he's around them he gets itchy. He's been told he's allergic but not sure to what extent. That's held him back from wanting a dog. Ever since I introduced him to Bernedoodles, it's one of the breeds he'd consider if we were to get a dog one day. Since he's never owned a dog, he isn't sure of the responsibility it takes to care for one.
Since we don't have any kids or ties, we are free to go out whenever we want to. We spend a lot of time outdoors visiting family, shopping, exploring outdoors, and traveling. Having a dog would require us to plan ahead (even more than we already do). We would need to make sure we aren't gone for too long. Not sure if that's possible since we live far enough already. But we also don't know until we try.
We've decided that we're open to fostering a dog. Yes, it's a lot of work but I'm sure it's also so rewarding. We submitted an application over the weekend. We're pretty nervous. There's so much running through my head.. Will we be good foster parents? What if we get attached but have to let them go? What if we become foster fails? What if my husband's allergies get bad?
They say the average time before the foster gets adopted is two weeks but it could take longer. I think we'll adapt just like we've adapted to any other change in our lives. Wish us luck. We've put in our request. They let us select three options, so we selected two Bernedoodles and even a Goldendoodle. Any of them, or a similar breed would be nice. It'd be a great trial, and nice to know that we're giving the dogs a chance at finding their forever homes.
