Bittersweet Mother's Day
Mother's Day is always bittersweet. I used to get a lot more emotional leading up to the day because I knew I wasn't going to be spending it with my mom since she's in Peru.
Now, it's become a day where I admire moms around the world who are simply trying to figure it out while they raise their kids through whatever phase of life they're in. I also try to make it a special day for my sister who I know feels the absense of spending it with our mom, too.
Here's a sweet text I sent my sister yesterday:
Good morning mh! Happy Mothers Day💕🫶It’s a true honor To witness you as a mom. It reminds me of the role you’ve played in my life as my second mom and mother figure ever since I was a little girl. You might not notice it but when you pour into your kids, when you hug them, and listen to them… a part of me imagines little Daphne receiving the same love, and it fills my heart. Thanks for everything you do for our family. I love you and can’t wait to celebrate you today 😘💕
We also celebrated my mother-in-law who always showers us with motherly love. We had a nice backyard shindig for them. Good food, nice enough weather, some lotería fun, and family time. Small yet cozy and sweet.
